Hi.

I just downloaded the beta II and wanted to try it out. But when launching the beta, the text on the buttons on the main menu is completely unreadable. Chinese would be easier to read. I'm running WinXP and danish keyboardlayout.

Anyone have seen this?

Thanks!

Moelle,
Just a guess, but I believe the beta is only in English. NLS came in the last beta level of GC1 (or perhaps it was the Gamma level), and GC2 is far from that stage. I don't know what the European testers are doing for text, but it sounds like they have some way to get English text displayed as English some how or another.

Well, forgot to mention that Beta 1 worked fine, so something must have happened. Don't know if it's my system or GalCiv II.

Hmm...We didn't change anything major between the two Betas    Did you make any major changes to your system reciently?

If you open up the file screens.str in a text editor, can you read the text there?

I recently reinstalled my system from scratch. I have tried reading the screens.str in notepad and I can read it just fine. Would a screenshot of the interface help you out? If I'm able to make one.

Did you do the re-install before or after you got beta 2? Maybe there's something wrong with the font.  Do any of the other screens exhibit this problem?

Well, now I am noticing some differences in key translation between beta 1 and beta 2. The - and _ key (just right of the 0 key) shows as 1/2 (but as one character) with and without the shift key depressed. Also the = and + key shows as + with or without the shift key depressed.

I have the same problem as Lucky Jack. I only pre-ordered after Beta 2 was out (I never had Beta 1) so I'm sure that it isn't a problem with old files.
